Organic Foods Orlando

Whole Foods in Orlando is One of My Favorite Places to Buy Organic Food   by Peyton J Finley

There are plenty of stores that sell organic food but Whole Foods in Orlando is one of the best places I have found in the area. Although I should stipulate that, technically, they are not located in the city of Orlando but, rather, in Winter Park. But no matter, because one is as good as the other. They are quite near each other, a stone’s throw away.

But on to the subject. When you walk in you will be greeted by absolutely stunning produce. Bright colors, beautifully arranged. You will no doubt be tempted to load up your cart with everything under the sun. The last time I was there I found some absolutely gorgeous blackberries and cherries. I specifically love the Rainier cherries, and they had some real nice ones.

Once you ever finish browsing this area it’s on to the meat department, and here is my favorite part of the store because they have some fantastic cuts of meat. I recently tried buffalo at a friend’s house and did not know at first what it was, and let me tell you, it was one of the tastiest pieces of steak I have ever eaten anywhere. I was surprised, in fact, to hear it was not from a cow. Whole Foods also carries aged beef as well which is next thing on my list to try. It all looks really nice.

They have a nice selection of seafood as well. Normally I find rainbow trout which is one of my absolute favorite fish, and when I find it I stock up. The last time I was there they didn’t have any but they did have some lovely sea bass. If you have ever eaten sea bass you know how good it was, and I was really tempted but the price on that was a little steep, about 25 dollars per pound. I tend to draw the line at that price simply because for the money I can go eat in a restaurant and have them cook and clean up which is a lot easier than cooking a meal at home. But I may cave in and buy some anyway if I see it next time I go.

There is lots more to see at Whole Foods in Orlando including organic beauty supplies, deodorant, perfumes — although I am not sure about the perfumes being organic but they have some interesting ones that you don’t see everywhere. They also carry several different types of soda that are not made with corn syrup but instead use pure cane sugar. Now, we all know that sodas are not that healthy but at least if you are going to consume them, try to buy the kind that are made with real sugar.
